Confidential Document Destruction


FREE Kane County SHREDDING EVENT
When: October 12th, 2013, 8am and 12noon
Where: 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles.

YES: This shredding service is for documents containing confidential information such as bank account numbers and details, social security numbers, dates of birth and other sensitive information.  

NO:  Information like name, address, and phone numbers are not considered confidential as they can be found in phone directories or in common records. Those kinds of information do not need to be shredded. Junk mail does not need to be shredded. Please place these items in your household recycling bin for collection at the curb.

 

Alternatives:

First, try calling your bank to see if they have a free yearly shredding event for their customers; they sometimes do.

Also, you can remove the section of the sheet of paper with the confidential information on it, rip it into small pieces putting some in one bin and some in another, and recycle the rest of the sheet of paper with your household recycling.
