FREE Kane County SHREDDING EVENT
When: October 12th, 2013, 8am and 12noon
Where: 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles.

YES: This shredding service is for documents containing confidential information such as bank account numbers and details, social security numbers, dates of birth and other sensitive information.

NO:  Information like name, address, and phone numbers are not considered confidential as they can be found in phone directories or in common records. Alternatives:

First, try calling your bank to see if they have a free yearly shredding event for their customers; they sometimes do.

Also, you can remove the section of the sheet of paper with the confidential information on it, rip it into small pieces putting some in one bin and some in another, and recycle the rest of the sheet of paper with your household recycling.

If you have a large quantity or don’t want to hassle with the above method you might try the following:and need something sooner than the next event, here is a list of some companies that offer shredding services in this area.
