The current major focus of this position is supporting the Kane County System of Care and Children's Mental Health Initiatives. This position will provide support to the Program Manager in carrying out the activities of the Parent Café Support Network, the Youth Voices Forum on Mental Health, the Parent Council, and school mental health initiatives.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Outreach, engagement, and empowerment work with parent and caregiver leaders, school mental health professionals, and behavioral health provider partners.
Support as needed for parent and caregiver leaders providing peer support services.
Creation of educational and promotional materials.
Attending and supporting Parent Cafés and other outreach events in person and virtually.
Administrative and budget support.
Research and information collection to address problems identified by stakeholders.
Support for efforts to carry out sustainability planning for all initiatives.
Case management and referral for calls seeking mental health services.

The Community Health Initiatives Coordinator promotes individual and population health through health promotion and education initiatives and health behavior-change programs in a variety of settings for the diverse populations represented in Kane County. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and public health initiatives, establishing, leading and maintaining community partnerships, and managing work plans and timelines. Work will involve multiple initiatives and projects at any given time and will change as the initiatives and projects evolve. The current major focus of this position is coordinating the Health Department's Children's Mental Health Program.

Requirements:

Seeking a candidate with experience and understanding with system of care work, experience engaging with diverse families, community organizing experience and either knowledge of the children's mental health system or passion to learn. Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.

Master's degree in public health, public health nursing, public administration, urban planning, social work or other closely related degree.

Consideration will be given to candidates with three (3) years' experience in population/system level public health and with a commitment to achieving a Master's Degree within four (4) years.

Valid Illinois driver's license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations.
