Community Development Fund

MISSION:
To support a variety of housing and community development activities aimed at improving the quality-of-life for Kane County residents, with a focus on affordable housing services, neighborhood infrastructure, public facility improvements, emergency shelter services, and planning or capacity-building initiatives.

The Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment is pleased to announce that applications for 2022 Community Development funding are now available. Specifically, the county is accepting project proposals in the following categories:

Neighborhood Improvements: Public improvements to parks and neighborhood infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, and water/sewer lines; and

Homeless Services: Financial support for area agencies that provide shelter services to homeless individuals and families in Kane County.

Units of local government and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for funds to support projects that meet federal eligibility criteria. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment to confirm project eligibility prior to preparing proposals. Application materials – including program guidelines, forms, and instructions – are available below. Completed applications should be submitted electronically to ocr@co.kane.il.us by 4:00 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2022. In addition to being evaluated for eligibility, completeness, and readiness to proceed, projects will be evaluated for their effectiveness at addressing a Consolidated Plan objective, the extent to which they will benefit the community (particularly lower-income residents), and their leverage of other resources. Additionally, applicants will be evaluated for their financial capacity and stability, as well as their experience, track record, and staff capacity to undertake and successfully complete the project they propose. If you have questions regarding application procedures, project eligibility requirements, or the Community Development Fund in general, please contact Josh Beck at beckjosh@co.kane.il.us
