Kane County has taken an active role in the Climate Action Planning process to collaborate with surrounding communities and highlight our communities' concerns.
This plan will join the GRC communities with 9,200 global cities and 131 countries working to build sustainable and livable communities.
The planning process includes evaluating the regional greenhouse gas inventory compiled by CMAP (Explore Kane County's greenhouse gas data), conducting a Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, a Climate Action Baseline Assessment and ultimately forming the Climate Action Implementation Plan (CAIP) which seeks to be a tool supporting Kane County, its communities, businesses, and residents in identifying and implementing actions to increase our resilience and meet climate goals.
Local government entities of all sizes can make decisions and take actions that reduce risks, slow climate change, and protect our communities. The Chicago Regional Climate Action Plan will connect these local actions to critical global targets for GHG reduction to amplify our collective impact on climate change.
