Kane County continues to replace old energy-consuming lighting at its government facilities with new energy efficient LED options. During 2015-2016, LED lighting retrofits were completed at 8 county buildings.

Improving Fuel Efficiency

By participating in the Chicago Area Clean Cities rebate program, Kane County was able to retrofit two vans in the government fleet with electric powertrains—and now these vans use 20% less fuel!

Pedaling for Cleaner Air

For the second year in a row, Kane County employees from multiple departments have participated in a “Bike to Work Challenge” during Chicagoland Bike Week in July—which supports multiple sustainability goals for the County by reducing Level 3 emissions from government operations and promoting employee wellness.
