2023 Event Schedule​

We are continuing a monthly First Saturday pop-up at the Ace Hardware at 994 N. Lake St. in Aurora from 9am until noon
Remaining 2023 dates: ​​June 3, July 1, Aug 5, Sept 2, Oct 7, Nov 4, Dec 2
Accepted items: electronics*, clothing, shoes & textiles, books, paper, cardboard, already shredded paper in sealed paper bags​

Saturday, July 22, 8am-noon, Extravaganza!
At the Kane County Circuit Clerk's Building ("old Montgomery Ward"), 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles
Our annual event with the most expansive list of items accepted for recycling (but no shredding planned for this event). Details to be finalized but we are planning to accept: electronics*, latex paint*, aerosols*, clothing, shoes & textiles, books, polystyrene foam/Styrofoam, household batteries and fluorescent bulbs, child car seats* and bicycles

Saturday, September 30, 8am-noon, "Shred and More"
At the Kane County Circuit Clerk's Building ("old Montgomery Ward​"), 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles
Free document shredding for Kane County residents
Accepted for recycling: latex paint*, aerosols*, camp-sized propane tanks and other small compressed gas tanks*, clothing, shoes and hard-to-recycle home goods (more detail will be provided as event approaches)

Event Recycling Fees


The County's recycling partners charge fees on certain items to recoup costs associated with staffing, transportation and physical recycling; no part is retained by Kane County. Fees are payable directly to vendors at events by cash or credit card.

Electronics: Fees on televisions and stand-alone computer monitors only
Screens less than 21" measured diagonally cost $25 each
Screens 21" or larger measured diagonally cost $35 each
Pricing is the same regardless of technology type (e.g. rear projection, flat screen, LCD, plasma, etc.). There is no fee for screen-attached devices like tablets, laptops, phones, etc.

Aerosols: $1 each regardless of contents

Compressed gas: CO2 (20 oz max), isobutane (16.5 oz max), MAPP gas (14 oz max) all $1 per tank
Propane (16.5 oz max) is $3 per tank

Child car seats: $20 each (covers transport, disassembly, and shipment of materials to multiple recyclers)

Latex paint: Pint cans and smaller are $1 each
Gallon cans are $3 each
2-gallon cans are $5 each
5-gallon buckets are $15 each
